MLK jr weekend

MLK jr weekend is upon us. Other than Jesus Christ, he is a true hero. With the blessing of God, he spawned radical, positive change to a racist society, who chose to ignore the what was in the constitution and the bible, as far as I am concerned, in regards to equal rights and fair treatment to all humans, just based on skin color.

Saturday agenda-race!

These are the events I on my radar today:

1. st Pete beach classic 5k/10k
2. Bahamas marathon (and 4p relay/half/5k) weekend
3. the Honda classic 5k
4. race for faith 10k/5k
5. run for education 5k
6. Brandon's run

You can automatically rule out the second (out of US). After that, it was a toss up since I don't remember doing any of those races. Being a God fearing and praising man, race for faith got my attention.

Time for the Clint Eastwood synopsis:

The good: top age and ten
The bad: cold (I like cool), long drive
The ugly: 2nd worst time of the year

Sunday agenda-race!

These are the events I selected for this day:

a. Bahamas marathon (and 4p relay/half/5k) weekend
b. hearts at work 5k
c. together we see eye run
d.Miramar pines rotary 10k/5k
e. bay harbour islands 10k/5k
f. Naples half
g. key west half and 5k

You can automatically rule out the first (out of US). I have been to all except the first 2 in the past. I always have a dream to do a double header and the Lord gave me that opportunity.

Morning agenda-Naples half

I'm gonna sum it up Clint Eastwood style:

The good: completed goal (sub 2 hours), able to 'run' entire distance since not injured
The bad: the coldest race day of the year, morning drive to event
The ugly: took nearly 2 hours

Evening agenda-together we see eye run

Time for the Clint Eastwood synopsis:

The good: podium (2nd age)
The bad: hot (reversal of morning), tight & tired, not in top dozen
The ugly: 2nd worst time of the year (yep, worse than yesterday but with reason)

Monday agenda-MLK jr day

The recognized day for his birthday; have a happy one. As far as the day, yet another cold one but not quite as cold as the weekend. This was my first race walk for the year (normally, I start the year with one). Unfortunately for me, I was feeling tired and tight from the extremely active weekend. On top of that, top racewalker Juan Llanes was here for the first time that I can remember. I didn't see him at the start but by the first turn, he mysteriously caught up then surpassed me. He remained in the lead through the finish, with his wife jogging in toe. However, by the grace of God, I won the overall title! What a way to close out the weekend!
