Chock full of events today:

1. air force marathon (WA)
2. run against violence and crime 5k
3. friends of the poor 5k
4. naked feet 5k
5. miami children 5k
6. d. wade community ride

You can automatically rule out the former (out of FL). I decided on the latter, instead of racing, to support dwayne wade's cause. It was not a race but was a great atmosphere.

sunday agenda-race?

1. navy/air force half marathon (DC)
2. next step in the cure 5k
3. miami tunnel to tower 5k

You can automatically rule out the former (out of FL). I had a chance for a double header but passed on the latter due to cost and logistics (expo at 2 bayfront but race starts at seven elsewhere), choosing the cure 5k. clint eastwood style:

The good: top 10 male, top age (podium), pr for the month
The bad: hot and humid
The ugly: time, generic medal, didnt double

911 weekend

911 weekend is here. That day is tomorrow but most avoid that for races.

Most are put on today:

1. Jeff Anna's memorial 5k
2. coral springs remembrance 5k
3. tunnels to towers 5k
4. ups 5k

I planned on the former but appeared at the latter. Due to circumstance, I didn't actually race but did complete the distance.

Sunday agenda-race?

This day marks 15 years since that horrible attack on us, hitting several U.S. landmarks and killing thousands. Kudos to the first responders on that day and beyond. Here's what I found for racing:

1. fire hero 5k
2. trilogy du/tri bonus round

Pledging allegiance to my sponsor, runner's depot, I picked the former, rather than the latter. I knew I had no chance to place but I needed to show support. I had a good first mile then pulled back to not further my injury.

First weekend of the month

First weekend of the month is here! So much going on. We are deep in preseason football, a cat 1 hurricane Hermine sweeps around Florida and hits the west side. Running season begins! Labor day follows.

2. power swim
3. save the jaguar 5k
4. mermaid day 5k

You can automatically rule out the former (out of FL) and the next (i am a land lover). I picked the latter because I never did it before. Clint time:

2. king of the hill 5k

I passed on the former to do the latter. Eastwood time:

The good: finisher medal
The bad: heat, humidity, travel
The ugly: time, not even close to placing

I followed this with a visit to the weaver pig roast (8th annual, 2 shy of hill 5k) before the visit to my lady.

I was still with my lady Cheryl, and since I'm no spring chicken, I decided to skip racing this day (no labor).

Last weekend of the month is here! Hopefully, this also ends the racing drought.

I had to pass on it due to my mom's funeral. Prior, I rode my bike and a little on the treadmill.

2. summers end 5k

Ya'll know I am like oil and don't mix with water; scratch the former. Due to the distance and weekend's activity, I have to pass on the latter as well. I did pull off a light run prior to taking my lady to the station to return home.

Opening/Closing.

Opening/Closing. Closing ceremonies for the olympics are this weekend and opening ceremonies for school begin monday.

Unfortunately for me, I had to pass on all of the above due to obligations here at home. First, my mom's arrangements then training at my job for a new system to be put in use on the first day of school.

You can automatically rule it out (out of FL), therefore, I didnt race. I got in 9 miles on my feet in the morning.

Olympics!

Olympics! It actually started last week but I already submitted a different title. Any how, that occurs like U.S. presidency, every 4 years. On top of that, last night start pre season football! The dolphins won their game. There is still a drought in regards to racing.

Despite the races but opted out in preparation for tomorrow. I did some skating, sprints and walking as training.

I found 1 event- trilogy #3 du/tri. Let me break it down Clint Eastwood style:

The good: finisher medal, podium
The bad: 3rd place (8 seconds from losing), wet ground, very windy
The ugly: personal worst time in all disciplines

Back to school weekend

Back to school weekend is here to prepare the kids for school, tax free (*).

Saturday agenda-race?

1. Minnesota half marathon
2. tri siesta key & du
3. cobra country 5k
4. lifetime kick off 5k

You can automatically rule out the former (out of FL). I passed on the next since there were 2 events on my coast. I picked the latter since its closest in proximity. Take it away, Clint:

The bad: humid, windy
The ugly: time, didn't place

Not! I couldn't find anything so train, it is. I skated 6 miles then jog/walk for over 40 minutes, some with a mystery partner.

* This year, the time frame was cut to 3 days (yesterday + this weekend). Top dollar cut from $100 to $60 and no computer or technology allowed.
